This Bill tabled by Deputy Stephen Donnelly sought to amend the Broadcasting Act 2009 and remove any mention of the subjective term “offence” from the duties of broadcasters.

Duties of Broadcasters
1. Section 39(1)(d) of the Broadcasting Act 2009 shall be amended by the substitution of
the following for paragraph (d)—
(a) anything which may reasonably be regarded as causing harm, or as being likely to
promote, or incite to, crime or as tending to undermine the authority of the State,
is not broadcast by the broadcaster,”.
2. This Act may be cited as the Broadcasting (Amendment) Act 2014.
