A motion of no confidence was tabled by Fianna Fail on the 1st of April 2014.

The Government amended the motion to commend the reforms and justify his position and expressed that Dáil Éireann has full confidence in the Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence, Alan Shatter TD.

The amended Government motion did NOT include reference to the Ministers apology to Whistleblowers McCabe and Wilson

* the motion did welcome and await the outcome of independent reviews of certain allegations of in relation to the Garda Síochána and in relation to allegations of surveillance of the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission;

and notesd the Government’s announcement of a Commission of Investigation in relation to the recording of phone calls in Garda stations;
